Lakewood, CO – Sunrise

The Biggest Benefit of 6AM Awakenings

I had planned to write about another great hike Juliet and I made yesterday; however, nature had another plan and as soon as I got home from dropping Juliet at work I grabbed the D7000 and headed out in the street.

These shots were all taken just outside my back door in our Belmar neighborhood. I am really excited about today as I will meet the legendary Mike Fiveson author of Mike’s Look at Life for lunch. Mike is one of my favorite bloggers and his view of life through his camera lens is one of the most authentic on the web. Mike is no bullshit and that is just how I like my human beings.

Enjoy the sunrise Blissful Adventurers!

A bit of a wider shot than the above.

Sunrise really changes by the second. This is just a few moments later

Notice the blue sky starting to creep into the shot

I heard a flock of geese to my right and brought them into the sunrise

I love the formations of the geese and their unmistakable honks

Now some stylized shots where I took a little artistic liberty with nature :-)

Reminds me of a forest fire at night

This shot was only slightly enhanced for exposure, contrast, and brightness

A moment later and a step more enhancement. This is my favorite of the photos

Sunrise Geese in Black and White - All this color was a bit much for my brain so I will leave you with this.

  9. Michael,

These are breathtaking. No, really; I was literally holding my breath as I moved on to each one. How fortunate for us that you had a camera and the skill to capture such beauty and splendor. Oh, I just love when God shows off.

    • Cara,
It is indeed an amazing display of “showing-off” How are you my friend? Seems too long since we have chatted :-)

      • I was just thinking — and writing — about you! Come over to my blog and check out my most recent comment on “I should have bought it”. Then read the one prior. :)

I am well, thank you! Mostly well, anyway. I injured my foot and when I walk look much like a hobgoblin. But other than that just dandy. The Hubs and I are heading to RA tonight for happy hour sushi! How are you? How’s the progress on the book?

        • Read through them all and including Michael’s at the end. At the end of the day how you feel you are or were called to help is your personal spiritual journey and none of us nor our opinions really carry much weight for you. The Universe, God, The HS, or Jesus himself all have to decide their paths and this is the beauty of what a true Christian understanding is. Jesus in his time on earth according to the apostles was often asked for healing, hand outs, and more. Jesus was of the capacity and the knowledge to judge. He was the truest form of empathetic being. He knew when to help and when he was deceived and I suppose those of us with a modicum of awareness do as well. If you feel like you should have helped the man, who am I to argue? My grandfather made decisions that only a man imbued with a Christ-like spirit could have made. Many derided him for these, but he lived at peace I am certain knowing his decisions were his own and in the capacity they should have been made. I have a very hard time with the term obedient. I think that is a flawed thought process and truly an easy way out for the moral status we choose as human beings. Free will does not suggest any obedience; moreover, it suggests making decisions from a place within us that is not absolutely scripted. You did just that. You made a decision you did not like and now you can make another one. This pain you felt derived from some sense of you not being all that you are or are capable of being in that moment. You did not receive a loud and clear command to assist the make-up guy. You were given a choice and you did not like the choice you made. Now, you are learning to follow the most important path, the one within you. Obedience is a strong word to me. Listening to and supporting your own inner bent is much more akin to the vastness of God than obedience.
Once again, I am quite unconventional in my spirituality so take me for what I am. My guess is that it is really not far from anyone who believes there is a good and loving power in which we all share.
